This Museum's Mig-5 was acquired from China in 1990 by J. Curtis Earl. It was donated to the Museum of Flight by the American Fighter Aces Association in 2003. The aircraft carries markings of the communist Chinese air force.
This is not the first MiG of US. On 21 September 1953, a lone North Korean pilot, No Kum-Sok (盧今錫), landed his MiG-15 on the Kimpo Air Base, northwest of Seoul, South Korea, virtually unnoticed until he was on approach. His MiG, the America's first MiG, is displayed at the National Museum of the US Air Force in Ohio.
